USE OF INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. We use information for the following general purposes: billing, identification, authentication, services improvement, service delivery, User contact, service announcements, advertising, research, customization, and anonymous reporting. IP addresses may be used for various purposes, including: diagnosing or servicing technology problems reported by our Users or engineers that are associated with the IP addresses controlled by a specific Web company or Internet Service Provider, estimating the number of Users visiting Meporter from specific geographical regions, and determining the geographic location of a Member claiming an account. We share information with our affiliates and advertising partners as described below.

We may share the personal information we collect in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, suspected violations of the User Agreement, or as otherwise required by law. We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal or administrative process served on us.

Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, we do not share your personally identifiable data with third parties.

COOKIES

A cookie is a small file that is stored on a computer for record-keeping purposes. You may be able to configure your browser to manage how it deals with cookies. For instance, you may be able to have your browser accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. If you reject all cookies, you will not be able to use Meporter products or services that require you to 'sign in' and you may not be able to take full advantage of the Meporter Services. Meporter uses cookies for a number of purposes, including to: access your information when you 'sign in'; keep track of preferences you specify while using Meporter services; display the most appropriate advertising banners for you based on your interests and activity on Meporter or elsewhere; estimate and report our total audience size and traffic; and conduct research to improve Meporter content and services. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site, other than your IP address, which may be considered personally identifiable information in some jurisdictions.

LOG FILES

We gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes IP address, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

We use this information, which does not identify the individual user, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track Users' movements on the site and to gather demographic information about our users as a group.

THIRD PARTY ADVERTISERS, AFFILIATES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

We share information we collect about you with a third party service provider for the purpose of processing your payments for Meporter fee-based services, such as purchasing advertising. If you do not want your information shared with our third party service provider, you have the option of not purchasing fee-based services.

Ads appearing on Meporter may be delivered to Users by Meporter or one of our Web advertising partners. We share Web site usage information with our advertising partners for the purpose of targeting our banner advertisements.

Our policies may be different than those of our advertising partners, affiliates, or service providers. We are not responsible for the conduct of our advertising partners, affiliates or their policies or practices. Our advertising partners may use cookies or Web beacons to collect information and deliver targeted advertisement that they believe will be of most interest to you. Cookies are described under Cookies above. A Web beacon, also known as a clear gifs or Web Bug, is a tiny graphic with a unique identifier that is used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

PROMOTIONS, CONTESTS, AND SWEEPSTAKES

From time to time, Meporter or an advertising partner may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake, or contest on Meporter. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply. Participation in these contests and sweepstakes is voluntary. If you choose to participate, you may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address, or to answer questions. The information that you provide may be transferred to our advertising partners. Promotions, contests, and sweepstakes are void where prohibited.

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) for a Meporter Service, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you have any questions about security on our Web site, you can contact us by submitting a contact request through our Contact Us page.

We will give you at least 30 days' notice by posting the changes on the Meporter Web page or by e-mail. It is your responsibility to check the Meporter Web page regularly to determine if there have been changes to this privacy policy.
